We are looking for a Dispensary Counter Assistant to join our Friendly Team


** We are installing a new phone system between 12noon & 3pm on the WEDNESDAY 29th JULY 2020.  There may be some disruption to our phone system during this time.  We are installing this new phone system to make it easier for patients to contact us.



DUE TO WORKLOAD PRESSURES FROM THE 6th APRIL THE DISPENSARY AT FRESSINGFIELD WILL CLOSE BETWEEN 1PM AND 2PM EVERY DAY.  OUR CURRENT TIMESCALES FOR PROCESSING MEDICATIONS ARE 3 WORKING DAYS. WE ARE SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE CAUSED AND THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE. THE NHS HAVE ADVISED WE CANNOT PROVIDE DOUBLE ISSUES OR PROVIDE MEDICATIONS THAT ARE NOT YET DUE. IF YOU ORDER TOO SOON WE ARE UNABLE TO PROCESS IT. THANK YOU.

Ipswich & East Suffolk Clinical Commissioning Group organise monthly 'virtual' training events for practices across Suffolk. We will be closed for clinics from 1pm on the following days so our doctors and nurses can attend these events:

9th July, 10th September 2020, 7th October 2020, 19th November 2020 & 2nd December 2020

The telephones will be diverted to the Out of Hours provider, who will be covering any clinical emergencies.

URGENT PATIENT NOTICE

Due to the current pandemic of Coronavirus, with immediate effect access to medical care at the Practice has changed. The below is supported by the recommended guidance from NHS England.  Our priority is to keep our patients and GPs and staff safe. If you are presenting with either a new cough or fever or loss of taste or smell, please follow NHS England advice and self-isolate. DO NOT COME TO THE PRACTICE IF YOU HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS.

We are trying to prevent anyone coming into either surgery who do not need to be here. This is for your protection.

 

For your safety we have measures in place to restrict the number of patients in the waiting room, Dispensary & Reception areas at any one time. 

If you are attending the Practice for a face to face appointment please wear a face mask/face covering.

APPOINTMENTS

Until further notice, all future GP and Advance Nurse Practitioner appointments will be replaced with telephone consultations.  If you are booking ahead for a routine telephone consultation these are pre-bookable via telephone or online. There will be no GP or ANP face to face appointments available to book.  It will be a clinician decision as to whether they feel you need to be seen face to face.

 

We are reviewing all face to face nurses appointments.  We will have to delay non-urgent procedures such as over 75 reviews, Ear Syringes (all practices have been advised not to do these as they are a virus transmission risk - oiling for a number of weeks could resolve the problem without the need for syringing), smoking cessation, NHS Health Checks, non-urgent blood tests and certain other procedures that are not urgent.  Immunisations will continue including childhood immunisations - it is very important for patients to continue to get immunised. All Long Term Disease reviews will be moved to telephone triage where possible, if you have an appointment for a Long Term Disease review for conditions such as Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Heart Failure or other long term disease with Suzanne or Raph this will now be a telephone consultation - please do not attend the surgery for these reviews.

 

To reduce footfall in the Practice please avoid coming into the surgery to book appointments.  If you have a problem and need to be seen, please phone the practice instead or book an appointment online.  Details for the NHS App are available here

Please be aware that our staff will also have to self-isolate if they develop symptoms so we will have a reduced workforce.  This may mean that it takes us longer to answer your phone calls or there may be longer waits for appointments.  We have a limited number of phone lines and if our clinicians are making more phone calls it may make it more difficult for you to contact us. Please bear with us, these are exceptional circumstances and we are doing all we can to best support you.

PRESCRIPTIONS

Due to workload pressures the Dispensary at Fressingfield will close between 1pm and 2pm every day until further notice.  We are sorry for any inconvenience caused and thank you very much for your assistance

Please ensure you provide 3 working days notice for prescriptions.

We are receiving an increased number of enquiries from patients which is placing increased pressure on our staff. We can confirm the following:

Please continue to order your medications in the normal way – online or posting them through our letterboxes. It is unsafe practice to take medication orders over the telephone and we do not currently have the capacity to take orders over the phone.  Both Medical Centres have letterboxes on the outside of the buildings.

Please do not order more medications than you need as we will be unable to provide double issues or medications that are not yet due. Please see below message from the NHS 

“Practices should not change their repeat prescription durations or support patients trying to stockpile: these actions may put a strain on the supply chain and exacerbate any potential shortages”

DELIVERY SERVICE & COLLECTING FOR OTHER PEOPLE

If you are unable to collect medications, your families, neighbours and friends can pick up medications for you if you provide them with consent to do so. If you do not have anyone that can help you there are now a number of volunteer schemes. Hopefully you would have received details of the volunteer delivery schemes running in your areas. Many of you will be aware of the Stradbroke Good Neighbours scheme - 07749 445531 who will be able to help you. Please ensure the person collecting your medications has your full name and address and if you are under 60 the details of the relevant box to tick on the back of the prescription.

PRESCRIPTION PROCESSING TIMESCALES

Please allow three working days for your prescription to be fully processed as we are receiving unprecedented demand for prescriptions currently. 

 

SAMPLES

If you have a sample to drop off, please ensure this is in the bag provided.  We will not accept any samples that have not been requested by a Clinician and in an appropriate bag.  They must be labelled with your name and date of birth.


SICK NOTES


In light of the current Coronavirus situation your GP will not be able to issue a sick note as the time off work is not due to an illness, and isn’t affecting your ability to work, but rather is a precaution to avoid transmission of any illness. We therefore expect your employer to be sympathetic if you are required to self-isolate and to understand that the reason for this is to protect the welfare of your work colleagues and the wider community.  I am sure you will agree that requests for sick notes are an unnecessary demand on GP time during this current crisis.

HEALTH VISITOR

Suffolk County Council have confirmed that the open access health visitor clinics that run at Fressingfield Medical Centre every 1st and 3rd Wednesday will be cancelled for the moment.  If parents would like to speak to a health visitor they can call the health visiting hub on 0345 607 8866.

Suffolk Home But Not Alone


A new Suffolk-focused community service has been set up to support people who need help during the COVID-19 pandemic, this is called ‘Home But Not Alone’ emergency help scheme. Details about the service can be accessed here
The telephone number for those in genuine need of help is free phone 0800 876 6926 and will be staffed from 9am to 5pm, seven days a week.

PARACETAMOL SUPPLY

Due to the recent developments, a number of outlets including community pharmacies have reportedly run out of paracetamol. There is assurance on a national level that there are no shortages or issues within the supply chain and it is expected that normal supply will continue and stocks will be replenished. We can only prescribe paracetamol for patients with chronic pain requiring regular paracetamol. Patients should contact the PALS (Patient Advice & Liaison Service) on 0800 328 7624 if they have difficulty obtaining paracetamol.


Please understand that we have had to make difficult decisions in light of the unprecedented situation that we find ourselves in.

 

Patients should only attend the practice if they have a pre-arranged appointment with one of the Clinical Team or if they are collecting medications.

** CHANGES TO GP APPOINTMENTS - OCTOBER 2019 **

From October we have made changes to GP appointments.  Patients were asking for greater availability of afternoon appointments.  The GP's will therefore work fewer mornings in favour of working more afternoons.  Patients may therefore find that their GP isn't available certain mornings of the week but hopefully patients will find the greater availability of afternoon appointments helpful.

A new free online counselling and emotional wellbeing support service for young people in east and west Suffolk aged 11 – 18 was launched on World Mental Health Day (October 10).

Appointments are available with an Advanced Nurse Practitioner.  They are able to deal with many of the problems you would normally take to a doctor. They can initiate treatments, prescribe medication and refer you to other health professionals such as hospital consultants.

Every patient is allocated a 'NAMED GP'.  If you have 'repeat medication' your repeat prescription slip will show your 'named accountable GP'.  We ensure that any letters that you receive from the practice indicate your 'named GP'.  All new patients and those over 75 will have been contacted to inform them of their 'named GP'.  Any patients that do not know their 'named GP' are welcome to ask at reception when visiting or telephoning the practice

Bring this form into the practice with proof of identity (such as passport, utility bill, driving licence)

You will then receive a registration letter in the post or we will provide it to you when you visit the practice. This letter will provide all the necessary information to allow you to create a new online account
